This 120-year-old home in central Albury was definitely ready for an update. Working closely with the owner and architect a new open plan extension was designed for the rear of the home and a full renovation completed on the existing dwelling.
Originally a 2-bedroom cottage, the existing part of the home was transferred into 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The front of the home retained the original appearance of 1920’s era, complete with front porch. The façade receiving a fresh render and paint.
From the original entrance and hallway, the extension opens up to include a large lounge/dining/kitchen open plan area with a separate laundry. The master bedroom (part of the existing home) was refurbished to include a spacious ensuite including bath and separate shower. The entire home received a new colour bond roof.
A garage with lift door was designed to blend in the front façade of the home. Behind the garage, adjacent to the dining area is a travertine tiled patio, the rear yard was paved and landscaped with small trees and shrubs to provide a low maintenance garden.
With the combination of old-style charm and the convenience of a modern new extension we were able to satisfy all our client’s requirements.
an extension of a
120 year old house, required expertise. challenges were handled with ease
I really enjoyed working with the Binding Building team, a renovation / extension of a 120 year old house, required expertise. Different building challenges along the way were handled with ease, due to the building experience and great communication from the team. It was a positive and pleasant experience and I love the end result.
